Diversity in the Professoriate Institute

The Howard, Hampton, and Morgan State (HHMS) Alliance for Graduate Education and the Professoriate (HHMS- AGEP) is proud to host its inaugural Diversity in the Professoriate Institute in Washington, DC. This Summit is made possible through a grant by the National Science Foundation, and is part of an effort to address the underrepresentation of minority scientists in the academy.  The Summit is designed to provide advanced doctoral students who are interested in an academic career with intense training and unique opportunities to enhance their knowledge of a career in the professoriate. Opportunities and activities available to Summit participants include but not limited to:

    1. Workshops designed to enhance pedagogical skills and knowledge,
    2. Discussions on educational equity and social justice,
    3. Understanding the importance of culturally sensitive assessments, and
    4. Networking events with other graduate students and faculty.

The Summit is open to STEM doctoral students who have completed their disciplinary course work, faculty, and staff.
