The HHMS-AGEP provides professional development and training to all Fellows. A year of tuition and a full stipend are included in the award.
HHMS AGEP Scholars Eligibility Criteria
- Completion of Level I (minimum of 3 webinars) and Level II (taken 3 courses and earn a grade of B or better) of the HHMS-AGEP program.
- Enrollment in a targeted STEM doctoral program and making satisfactory progress with a minimum of a 3.2 GPA.
- Completion of all the requisite disciplinary coursework and eligibility to enter the dissertation phase of their research as required by the Graduate School.
- Must be admitted for Ph.D. candidacy.
- Permission (letter of support) from the dissertation advisor endorsing the candidate’s application.
- Be a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident.
How to Become an HHMS-AGEP Scholar
To become an HHMS-AGEP Scholar you apply and be accepted into the HHMS-AGEP Program. The required documents are the application, a personal statement, two references (dissertation advisor and faculty member), and a transcript.

As a general guideline you can follow these steps:
Student participants progress towards becoming an HHMS-AGEP Scholar is based on the completion of Level 1, 2, and 3 requirements:
- Students engaged in completing 5 webinar requirements are given a status of participant.
- Fellows status is achieved when a student has completed 5 webinars and is engaged in taking 3 required courses
- A scholar are those students who have attended 5 webinars, have completed 3 courses, and is engaged in an apprenticeship.
